Shadow reinvents gaming thanks to its high-performance cloud computing!

It’s in the form of a case and a subscription that Shadow is offering users a computer holding high-end components streamed from their servers.

Tired of constantly changing the components of your PC in order to play new games? You do not have the skills to set a tower up and benefit from real value for money? Do you plan to buy a tower and wish that the device will stay at its best condition? Shadow might be able to sort your issues out!

With the provided case and an internet connection, you can bag yourself a high-end gaming tower for a much lower price. The best part is that you will not have to worry about the components, Shadow takes care of it all! They update their motherboards and graphics cards with each release of the latest ones.

These days, what’s on offer will certainly impress; 8 dedicated cores on an Intel XEON server processor, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage with a high-end NVIDIA graphics card that will deliver full HD and 4K; all of this obviously runs on Windows 10. This service caters for your need to play some of the latest and tastiest games!

Through dedicated applications, it will also be possible to access all your contents from any other computer, Mac or even from your smartphone and SmartTV. Also note that users will be able to stream games from their phone whenever they want! Not to forget that this case of yours has also been designed to be transportable; it hence only weighs six kilos!

The monthly subscription will cost between €30 and €45 depending on the package opted for. In addition, a case rental fee of €8 per month will be applicable; it will also be possible to purchase the latter for no more than €120 (a pretty interesting deal if you have a one-year subscription and expect to get a renewal for the following year). Do note that opting for the 12-month subscription with a case rental will cost you €450 per year! At such a price, you will have to admit that it’s near impossible to find a tower with components of the sort on the market!

You must be telling yourself that this is indeed the perfect solution (and you might be right!) However, this technology does come with a few drawbacks!

The storage capacity is likely be an issue and you will probably be required to invest in an external hard drive to store all your data (this will eventually mean no remote access). Since the service is in its early days, also note that it isn’t 100% stable yet; things are being improved day by day though. Some online games, such as Overwatch, have issues with Shadow. Indeed, since the system presently functions by continuously refreshing screenshots, some titles do not support that technology yet. If you have plans to join the Overwatch League, you will simply have to forget Shadow for now!

In addition, internet connection is likely to be a major problem; if you do not want to face more issues, fibre or a top-notch VDSL is strongly recommended! Those not living in a big city; this service is definitely not yours!

We hope that you have enjoyed this first insight and do look out for detailed articles covering technological advancements every month.
