Microsoft signed a deal with Activision Blizzard for $69 million

Since Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard earlier this year, there are now four major players in the video game sector.

Tencent

The biggest company in terms of revenue is China-based Tencent. The firm also owns Riot Games, the maker of “League of Legends” as well as Finnish studio, Supercell who is famous for “Clash of Clans” and “Brawl Stars”.

Sony

With its PlayStation console, Sony still dominates the field. It also made the recent acquisition of Bungie, the developer of franchises like “Halo” and “Destiny”.

Microsoft

The American tech company surprised everyone this year by announcing the acquisition of Activision Blizzard for a record $69 million. This deal could provide Microsoft with an exclusive access to titles like “Call of Duty” and “World of Warcraft”.

Nintendo

Finally, Nintendo rounds up the list. The company is known to rely on its popular self-made franchises such as “Zelda”, “Pokémon” and “Mario” to stand out from its competitors.
