Video games are increasingly well-perceived in the world of work

A study conducted by Censuswide for YouTube found that 59% of recruiters surveyed in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Spain, France and the United Kingdom expressed a preference for hiring candidates who are gamers.

The results of a survey conducted in France indicate that job candidates who demonstrate their acquired skills through video games have received high praise from recruiters. Specifically, 56% of employers noted that they were particularly impressed by such candidates. That’s because these people have cultivated skills such as strategic thinking, problem-solving, maintaining composure under pressure and effective communication.

The gamers themselves also acknowledge the advantages of their pastime, with 60% saying that interacting with other players on platforms like YouTube has helped them gain more confidence. Among respondents aged 18 to 26, 47% claimed to possess greater self-confidence to confront work-related challenges. Employers place a high value on this attribute, with 67% of French recruiters reporting that young job seekers (under 25 years old) have increasingly mentioned gaming as a hobby on their CVs in the past five years.
